​To be lost is 'absence' in a state of no will; to be abandoned is 'absence' in a state of having a will. And both cases mean ‘absence’ to me; in other words, I don’t have them at this moment. We lose our dreams, our lives, our objects, our people, and our emotions. As time goes by, we forget them completely. It is like magic. It suddenly becomes non-existent. If so, the forgotten things, what meanings do they have? The meaninglessness also has an important meaning just as important as the real world, but it may be just abandoned somewhere deep within each of them.
잃어버렸다는 것은 의지가 없는 상태의 없음이고, 버렸다는 것은 의지를 가진 상태의 없음이다. 둘의 공통점은 현재 내게는 없다는 것.
우리는 꿈, 삶, 물건, 사람, 감정 등의 일부를 시간과 함께 하얗게 잊곤 한다. 그것은 마치 마법 같아서 갑자기 없는 것이 된다. 그렇게 없는 것, 잊혀진 것은 어떤 의미가 있나.
작품에는 아기인형이 사용되었다. 그것은 꿈, 삶, 물건, 사람, 감정이라는 단어들을 모두 포함한다. 작가가 어릴 적 처음 소유한 물건이었고, 감정과 일상을 공유했으며, 가장 나약한 인간의 모습을 하고 있다. 작가에 의해 잊혀지고 찾아지기를 반복하다, 끝내는 버려졌다.

This artwork is done by a baby doll. To Jean Jung, it implies the words of 'dream, life, object, person, emotion, forgotten, abandoned and lost.’ It is the object that was first possessed by the artist, shared emotions, were abandoned, were forgotten, and has the most fragile human form. The doll was reproduced in white with 49 pieces. In the work, the number 49 refers to ’49 Rites’, which is held on the 49th day after a person's death. This is a ritual for those who believe in reincarnation, wishing the dead to live a comfortable and peaceful life in the afterlife.
인형은 49개로 하얗게 복제되었다. 작가의 작품세계에서 흼은, 그 대상의 경중과 상관없이 현재는 존재하지 않음을 뜻한다. 숫자 49는 사람이 죽은 지 49일째 되는 날 지내는 재齋를 뜻한다. 사십구재는 윤회를 믿는 이들이, 죽은 이가 후생에 안락하고 평안한 삶을 살기를 바라며 복을 비는 행위이다. 그러니까 이 작품은, 종교없는 작가가 지금 곁에 없는 것들의 명복을 비는 일종의 의식이겠다.

The work was exhibited in the cassette tape factory, which had been abandoned for 26 years. The factory was remodeled into a gallery after the exhibition. 작품은 26년간 버려졌던 카세트 테이프 공장을 갤러리로 리모델링하기 직전, 그곳에 전시되었다.

​Beautiful, yet Scary

비어있는 프레임, 하얗고 하얀 석고 토르소.
이것이 갓 난 아기와도 같이 느껴진다. 프레임 안에 무엇이 그려질지, 얼굴없이 새하얀 토르소가 어떤 얼굴을 하고, 어떤 옷을 입을지는 나와 나를 둘러싼 이들이 결정 할 것이다. 

​우리는 모두 하얗게 태어났지만, 모두 다른 모습으로 자라난다.
