Title: Mind Garden
Title: Mind Garden
Everyone has a garden in their mind.
It doesn’t differ much from the garden in front of our house.
Some tend to their gardens, while others leave them as it is.
The one thing different is that the garden in our mind is invisible,
so people can pretend they are okay, even when it’s a complete mess.
When I paint about the Mind Garden, I use earthy-colored canvas.
It represents earth which means,
soil in a kitchen garden
soil grows rice and wheat
soil as the root of life.
On the soil, with the mind
raising flowers
feeding families
keeping my first resolution,
I paint and write.
Garden has two meanings.
Garden in English and
가든 In Korean which means feeling refreshed and light-hearted.
May I be able to keep my mind garden refreshed and light-hearted …
I paint and write with the prayer.
When we work in a garden,
we tend, nurture, and manage it to keep it in good condition.
If we tend to our mind garden as we do our kitchen garden,
our mind will be refreshed and light-hearted.
Reflecting upon
what I should plant? Where I should plant?
Worrying about
what I should do when there’s heavy rain or drought.
I try to listen to my own heart and ask
what your wish is,
where you want to arrive in your whole life.
It must be a meaningful place or significant thing.
For a long time, I longed for the answer.
And finally, what I’ve got is a
Mind Garden.
Surprisingly simple and humble answer.
Yet, all I want to have is
my own refreshed, light-hearted mind garden.
* Let’s look inside my mind.
This is the beginning of the project
The project includes painting, installation art, and writing
It ponders how should I take care of it and tend to the garden within.
