*가든 = (영어) 정원 Garden + (한글) 마음이 가볍고 상쾌한 상태

인간의 마음 안 가든이 존재한다.
집 앞의 것과 다름 없어 누구는 가꾸고 누구는 버려둔.
다만 다른 한 가지는, 보이지 않는다.
마음 안 그것은 보이지 않아 괜찮은 척 할 수 있다. 실은, 그렇지 않음에도.

흙색의 캔버스를 사용하였다.
흙색의 캔버스는 집 앞 뜰의 흙, 벼와 밀 키우는 흙, 생명의 근원인 흙.
정원 안 꽃과 나무 가꾸는, 벼와 밀 키워 서로 먹이는, 처음 그 다짐 잊지 않길 바라는, 마음이다.
무엇을 심을까 어디에 심을까. 가물면 어쩌나 큰 비 오면 어쩌나. 고심하고 걱정한다.
소소한 매일, 매일의 양식, 그 양식을 먹고 매일을 살아가는 우리,를 있게 한다.
우리는 정원의 일을 할 때 '가꾼다' 한다.
좋은 상태로 만들려 손질하고 보살피고 꾸려 나간다.
캔버스 가꾸는 일은, 마음 가꾸는 일과 다름없다.
가든 가꾸듯 정성들여 마음 가꾸면 언젠가, 나의 마음 또한 가든해지지 않을까.

Mind Garden*

Everyone has a garden in their mind. It doesn’t differ much from the garden in front of our house. Some tend to their gardens, while others leave them as it is. The one thing different is that the garden in our mind is invisible, so people can pretend they are okay, even when it’s a complete mess.

When I paint about the Mind Garden, I use earthy-colored canvas. It represents earth which means, soil in a kitchen garden, soil grows rice and wheat, soil as the root of life. On the soil, I paint and write with the mind raising flowers, feeding families, keeping my mind steady.

*Garden has two meanings. One is a place for plants and flowers in English and the other is feeling refreshed and light-hearted in Korean. I paint and write with the prayer. May I be able to keep my mind-garden refreshed and light-hearted …
